I am a journal keeper. I usually write in it every day, unless I am way too occupied with my thoughts to bother writing.

Keeping a journal is such a wonderful gift to yourself. It’s a safe haven, just for you and your creativity.

When I look back through my past journals I always smile, because there are so many colours and art in them.

One thing that has been consistently present in my journal is the gratitude list at the end of the day.

I started off with a list of three things I am grateful for each day, but when I noticed that became easy, I upped the ante to five.

It is such a beautiful ritual, writing my daily list. I usually write it late at night, or first thing in the morning of the day before.

I sit, take a deep breath, close my eyes and let the first thing I am grateful for drift up inside. Then I just scribble and within moments, the journal has its list of five.

And, on days that it isn’t easy to think of things I am grateful for when I am sick for instance, I can always go back through my journal and see all the gratitude lists. So inspiring to see how much I have to be grateful for.

I will share some of my gratitude lists on another day this month 🙂
